Facilitating the parallel build

For you only

The classic build makes you a coach with three questions. The parallel build makes you an operator with three windows. It is more dynamic, and this page is the control room.

The morning, 9:30 to 11:30. Eight builders instead of four tables means shorter, more frequent check-ins. Same openers ("show me what you have", "what does the user do next"), just brisker. You are also watching for the quiet merge: two screens slowly becoming one. Split it kindly, every time.

The synthetic window, 11:30 to 12:00. You run this window, not the teams, and you set it up the day before: account created on the platform, the audience described once from the brief's user line (ten minutes, reused for every build), one test run on a real link the morning of. On the day: collect the prototype links at 11:25, queue all the tests, and hand each builder their own transcript as it lands. Cap the reading: three findings per person, on sticky notes. A builder still combing transcripts at 12:15 is hiding from the decision, and you already know the move: name it, walk them to the table.

The decision window, 12:00 to 12:30. Four conversations at once, so you rotate: about seven minutes per table. The script is on the team card; your job is to hold its shape. Sixty seconds per person, then the three doors, then the decider calls it. If a table stalls, run the ninety-second note-and-vote from Chapter 19. If a table wants to keep debating at 12:25, the clock answer applies: "the users are already booked."

[SAY SOMETHING LIKE · handing over the jury half hour, at 12:00] "Stop building. For the next thirty minutes you are not builders, you are a jury. Sixty seconds each: what you built, and what the AI users tripped over. Then pick your afternoon: adopt one, merge the best parts, or start the third idea you both now believe in. Deciders, you were named this morning. At 12:30 you are builders again, one prototype per team."

More moving parts, same promise: one team, one prototype, real users at 15:30.
