Code of conduct.

Last updated: 20 April 2026

Our commitment

We want Product Build Day to be a place where anyone can build, learn, and contribute without fear of harassment or discrimination. This Code of Conduct sets out what we expect from everyone who takes part.

Who this applies to

Everyone at Product Build Day. Participants, mentors, judges, sponsors, organisers, and guests. It covers the venue, any official social events, transport organised by us, and all online spaces linked to the event such as Slack, Discord, Zoom, and email.

Expected behaviour

  • Be kind and respectful to other people.
  • Assume good intent. Ask before you criticise.
  • Listen as much as you speak.
  • Give credit where it's due.
  • Help others when you can.

Unacceptable behaviour

Harassment is not tolerated. That includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive or derogatory comments about gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, body size, age, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, or socioeconomic background.
  • Sexual language or imagery.
  • Intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Photography or recording without consent.
  • Disruption of talks, demos, or other activities.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above.

If someone asks you to stop, stop.

Reporting

If you see or experience something that breaks this Code, tell us. You can:

  • Talk to any organiser in person during the event.
  • Send a message via the contact form.

You can report anonymously if you prefer. We read every report and keep it confidential.

Consequences

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply right away. If the behaviour continues, organisers may take any action they judge appropriate, including a warning, removal from the event without refund, or a ban from future events.

Scope

This Code covers all event spaces, online and in person, before, during, and after the event. It also covers one-to-one communication about the event.
