A Product Build Day is a one-day hackathon for people who do not write code.
You put eight people in a room. You give them one clear challenge. They spend six hours building real working prototypes with AI tools like Lovable, Bolt, or Replit. Then real users react to what they built. Then everyone pitches. Then the people who can say yes pick a winner and make the call before they leave.
The shape of the day, in five words:
CHALLENGE → BUILD → TEST → PITCH → DECIDE
And one addition most people forget, which gets its own chapter near the back: next steps. The five steps are the day. The sixth is why the day still matters on Monday.
It is not a 200-person event. You do not need a budget or a stage. You need a room, a day, and the right people, up to eight. If you have ever run a workshop, you can run this.
Who this book is for. A product or UX person inside a company who wants to lead something real. You have run a workshop before. You are not a developer. You have heard of Lovable or Bolt but have not shipped with one yet. A founder who wants to validate fast also fits.
Who it is not for. Anyone trying to run a 200-person public hackathon. That is a different thing, with a stage and sponsors and a budget. This is a small room making one decision. The big players are moving this way, by the way: Lovable has advertised for an Enterprise Hackathon Producer, and Replit has run multi-day hackathons where companies shipped real builds. The market is walking toward the method. This book is the small-room version any product team can run on a Monday.
